Introduction

Installation for this interface requires:

  • CAN connection to vehicle (passenger side floor)
  • Data connection to K40 brain (data port)
  • Power/ground to vehicle (ignition power/chassis ground)

This device will display alerts and information on the instrument cluster in the RADIO/AUDIO, NAVI, and TELE menus

The interface will also allow for use for the steering wheel controls to mute the radar, turn off laser shifting, and control various settings on the K40

Video Overview

    • Locate 4 pin black plug from K40INT213 (should be plugged into K40INT module at 4 pin white plug via red plug)

    • Plug 4 pin black plug into white 4 pin port labeled 3 on K40 brain

  1. Remove plastic sill cover on passenger side Pull up floor along front passenger side door sill towards kick panel
    • Remove plastic sill cover on passenger side

    • Pull up floor along front passenger side door sill towards kick panel

    • Locate CAN distribution block For C Class / GLC 15-18 and E Class 2017, locate block with yellow a yellow/white factory wires 2018 E Class will have purple and purple/white factory wires

    • Plug black CAN plug from K40INT213 harness into any empty spot in CAN distribution block

    • Plug black CAN plug from K40INT213 harness into any empty spot in CAN distribution block

    • The locating tab on the provided CAN plug may need to be shaved off in order to fit in the factory block. This may be shaved off with a razor

    • Connect black wire from K40INT213 harness to chassis ground

    • Locate ignition power source (behind lighter socket recommended or at passenger fuse panel)- connect red wire from K40INT213 harness to ignition power source.

    • Power and ground for K40INT213 can be connected to same power and ground source as K40 radar

    • Check red LED to confirm power and ground connections. If red LED is on, move on- if not, check power and ground connections.

    • Check yellow LED to confirm CAN communication. If yellow LED is flashing, move on- if LED is not on or not flashing, check CAN connection and make sure correct CAN block is being used

    • Check green LED to confirm communication with K40 brain. If green LED is flashing, move on- if not, check data connection from step 1 and confirm data from K40INT213 module is connected to data port '3'

    • Using steering wheel controls, change instrument cluster mode to either AUDIO/RADIO, TELE, or NAVI.

    • Test radar- alert(s) should appear on instrument cluster.

    • Radar display will work on Audio, Tele & NAVI modes

    • With ignition on, make sure that instrument cluster is set to AUDIO/RADIO, TELE, or NAVI.

    • Press 'MUTE' button on steering wheel for 2 seconds to access menu

    • First menu option is 'MARK LOCATION' - when this option appears on cluster, you are in the menu.

    • Once menu appears on cluster, release 'MUTE' button and using 'VOLUME +' and VOLUME -' on steering wheel to scroll through menu.

    • Press and release 'MUTE' to access sub-menu

    • Use 'VOL. +/-' to scroll through seb-menu options

    • Press and release 'MUTE' to select desired option or setting.

    • Menu will time out after 5 seconds and all settings will be saved

    • Mount module in secure location

    • Ensure that module is not mounted near any heat sources or moving parts
