Adding Compustar CM Alarm Modules to SKSNG SmartKey Starter®
Adding Compustar CM Alarm Modules to SKSNG SmartKey Starter®
SKSNG SmartKey Starter® modules are compatible with Compustar CM Alarm/Remote Start Modules (e.g. CMX, CM900)
Note: Do NOT use a Blade module as part of this setup, the system will not work correctly with a Blade
The SmartKey Starter® will send lock/unlock commands for arm/disarm to the Compustar module and handle door triggers.
The following hard-wired connections to the CM must be made for the CM to work (solder and insulate all connections)
- 12V Constant
- Chassis Ground
- 12V Ignition
Constant power and chassis ground should be connected to the SmartKey Starter® T-harness.
Red = 12V constant
Black= Chassis ground
Most vehicles have 12V ignition power at a cigarette lighter socket or USB
For the SKSNG906 and SKSNG906RV, 12V ignition can be connected at the T-harness to the light green wire
A Compustar 4-pin data cable with the pinning shown below is used to connect the CM module and the SKSNG Module.
The data cable may need to be modified by reversing the RX and TX wires on one side.
- Connect one end of the data cable to the gray port on the SmartKey Starte®
- Connect the other end of the data cable to the black port on the CM
CM Programming:
Option 2-10 on the Compustar CM must be set to no connection, assumed running, three(3) second crank.
