The SKSNG907 and SKSNG907RV remote start have built-in diagnostic codes that will flash both the parking lights (easiest place to view is on instrument cluster) and an LED on the SmartKey StarterĀ® module. The number of flashes will correspond to an error code which will assist with troubleshooting.

Error: Valet mode (remote start off)
Remedy: Enable remote start on (valet mode off) using menu. Instructions for valet mode

Error: No communication with PCM module
Remedy: Power cycle SKSPCM module. Checking wiring for loose wires, loose connections, or bent pins.

Error: Improper key takeover
Remedy: Ensure proper key takeover procedure (click here for Step 21 on installation manual)

Error: Hood open *
- Custom setting by request. Vehicle does not come with OEM hood pin. If option is activated, hood pin must be installed.
Remedy (if enabled and hood pin installed): Close hood

Error: RPM over-rev
High RPMs were detected. Check to ensure that vehicle is operating normally. Double check to make sure that error code is actually 8 flashes. Contact Mid City Engineering if 8 flash error persists and vehicle is operating normally.

Error: Vehicle does not see key
Remedy: Check key in box and key in box connection. See steps 17-19 in installation manual.
- Check battery emulator connection. Make sure that it is facing correct orientation.
- Ensure key box is plugged into SmartKey StarterĀ® module
- Verify that key in box key is working properly (remove key from box, insert battery, test with push to start). If key does not work- try starting with key in emergency slot (below cupholders) and let run for at least 1 minute- then shutdown vehicle and try key in key box again. Key can lose sync with vehicle.

Error: Variant wrong
Note: this error should not occur on modules labeled V5.23 or above. If system has older version (<5.23), contact Mid City Engineering for variant override instructions.
