Introduction
Use this guide to remove EIS for 2014-2017 S Class (W222) with leather dash
EIS removal is required to perform EIS jumper modification when installation SKSNG222D4 SmartKey Starter®

CAUTION: YOU WILL BE REMOVING THE AIRBAG TO ACCESS THE EIS. BE SURE THAT VEHICLE BATTERY IS DISCONNECTED BEFORE REMOVING AIRBAG

Move steering wheel and seat to desired working position

It is required in the next step to disconnect the battery, so it is important to have the seat and steering wheel in a good working position

Vehicle battery must be disconnected before moving to the next step

The airbag will be removed in the next step, so it is very important to disconnect the vehicle battery before removing the airbag

Release clips on both sides of steering column (insert tool to release on each side)

Pull out airbag

Disconnect yellow plug from airbag

Carefully set aside airbag
-

Unscrew 10mm hex at center of steering wheel
-
Remove steering wheel and carefully set aside
-

Put a strip of tape from in place from 12:00 to 6:00 on shroud assembly to keep shroud in position before removal

It is important to keep this assembly in its original position until you have reassembled steering column

Pull off stalk assembly and shroud
-
Disconnect harness from assembly and carefully set stalk assembly aside
-

Disconnect harness from EIS
-
Remove EIS through steering wheel cavity
-
